Over the last few years I’ve become a big fan of music festivals. Belladrum, a local and folksy festival, has become a staple of my summers and the Rockness I attended 2 years ago was easily one of the best weekends of a great year. It seems only yesterday that I was shopping in HMV along with my family and caught sight of Franz Ferdinand’s self-titled debut album on the shelf. “Take Me Out” had hit its peak the month before and it’s catchy, poppy rock and roll had captured my attention. Social networking is absolutely everywhere in this modern world, permeating every layer of our culture in a revolutionary way. I’m quite fond of reflecting on the year that’s gone by at this time of the year, and my favourite way of doing so is by looking back on the music I’ve added to my library over the past twelve months.
