My Top 10 Call of Duty Maps

First person shooters aren’t known for striking any emotional chord with the players, other than perhaps the sheer thrill of the fight.  But I think if anything in shooters can evoke memories, either good or bad, it is the maps.  These are the virtual playgrounds where you win, lose, live, die and where the things that make you love or hate a game happen.  Maps are a crucial part of a multiplayer shooter – without fun, well-designed and memorable maps there isn’t as much enjoyment — Read more →

The Belladrum Bubble

The Tartan Heart Festival, more commonly known as Belladrum after its home estate, is now the Highlands’ premier music festival after this year’s collapse of RockNess.  I’m delighted that an event held so close to home, and one that has come from such humble beginnings, holds such an honour.  It’s highly regarded as a festival, with everyone coming away from it with only positives every year.  It’s normally one of my favourite weekends of the year, too.  However, with the weight of expectation this year’s — Read more →

A Derby With a Highland Twist

The biggest derby in Scottish football next season is not going to be between the Old Firm, Celtic and Rangers are still a league apart.  It’s probably not going to be the Edinburgh derby either, with Hearts’ relegation to the Championship and the unlikely prospect of Hibs joining them.  Unless Dundee are promoted to the Premiership, or Ross County fall foul of the relegation play-off, it will be the Highland Derby between County and Inverness Caledonian Thistle.  This rivalry has come a long way from — Read more →
